Who we are

4x4forum.com.au is an independent Australian 4×4 community and education site. It is not a dealer, not a booking desk, not a payments business, and not a phpBB succession project. The operator contact is callum.sherwood.seo@gmail.com. More culture sits on about. How to reach us sits on contact.

This privacy note describes, in ordinary language, the kinds of information that appear when you browse, post, or email. It is not a substitute for the Australian Privacy Principles, a lawyer, or the privacy policy of any host, email provider, or park agency we link to. If you need formal advice, get it from someone who is retained to give it.

What you choose to publish on the board

When you compose a topic or reply, you are publishing words, and sometimes photos and links, on a public website. Handles, regions, trip details, and vehicle stories become visible to anyone who can load the forum.

Do not post:

• Payment details, copies of licences, or full identity documents.
• Another person’s phone number, address, or workplace as a weapon.
• Secret track pins that exist to send a crowd somewhere fragile — tread lightly.
• Asking prices or deposit instructions. Buying used and classifieds are inspection talk, not a yard.

Member posts remain the copyright of their authors unless otherwise agreed. That is also in the site disclaimer. Publishing on a public board is not the same as asking us to syndicate your words into ads. We do not do that.

If you posted in heat and want a correction, say so via contact with the URL. We may edit or remove content that is unlawful, unsafe, or a pile-on. We will not rewrite history because a recovery photo was embarrassing.

What you send to the operator

Email to callum.sherwood.seo@gmail.com is read by the operator to respond to privacy, copyright, takedown, correction, and serious conduct notes. We keep mail long enough to handle the request and to understand a repeated scam pattern. We do not need your VIN to answer a policy question. Do not send one.

If you request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you off-board (for example, in email), describe it clearly so we can find it. We may need to verify we are speaking to the right person. We cannot un-index every copy of a public post that other people have already read or quoted, and we cannot control search engines. We can discuss what is reasonable on this site.

Technical data, cookies, and hosts

To run a website we use hosting, content delivery, and related infrastructure. Those systems typically log IP addresses, user agents, timestamps, and requested URLs so the site stays up, abuse can be investigated, and errors can be fixed. We do not ask you to treat those logs as a loyalty program.

The site may use cookies or similar storage that the software needs in order to function — for example, to keep a compose form from losing a draft or to remember a local preference. We do not use this page to invent a list of marketing pixels we do not run. If a third-party embed appears (a map, a video, an official parks page you chose to open), that third party has its own policy.

We do not sell personal information. We do not process classifieds payments. We do not run a shop checkout. Anyone who DMs you a payment request is not us — scam patterns.

Overseas disclosure can happen in the ordinary way websites work: a host, email provider, or content network may store data outside Australia. If that is unacceptable for a particular fact, do not send that fact.

Children and sensitive details

This is a site about vehicles, tracks, and adult risk. It is not aimed at children. Do not post images of minors in recovery or camp contexts that you would not want copied. Do not post health stories about other people.

Recovery photos should teach a brief, not identify a bystander who did not agree to be a lesson. Recovery basics is about spectators as safety, not as content.

Official links and other websites

We link to parks agencies, manufacturers, and guides, travel, vehicles, and gear on this same host. Official sites have their own collection practices. A permit form is not our form. A fitter’s invoice is not our invoice.

The FAQ answers product and skills questions without asking for your address. Use it. Use the board. Use email only when the operator is the right human.

How long things stay

Public threads persist so the next driver can learn from a turn-around. That is the point of a board with a memory. Seeds and editorial pages are part of the site, not your private diary.

Operational email and server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security, continuity, and a request you opened. We will not invent a precise day-count that we then fail to meet. If you need a deletion timeline in writing for a specific item, ask.

Your choices

• Browse without posting.
• Post with a handle that is not your payroll name.
• Email a precise privacy request.
• Leave prices, documents, and other people’s details off the internet.
• Read about before you treat this place like a shop.

We may update this page when the site’s actual practices change. The heading will still be the same idea: collect little, sell nothing, keep the board for tracks, keep the inbox for the operator.
