Use it when the message is about the site as a site: a privacy request, a copyright or takedown note, a serious conduct report that should not be a pile-on, a correction to an editorial page, or a press question that is not a product pitch.

Do not use it as a secret classifieds channel. Do not send deposits, VIN dumps you found on a stranger, or a request that we “hold” a Patrol. Buying used and the scam thread exist so those stories stay visible and unpaid.

We read mail. We do not promise a same-day desk, a phone tree, or a 24-hour recovery hotline. If you are in danger, contact emergency services — not a community website.

What belongs on the board instead

If the question is “what recovery gear do I need”, the answer starts on recovery basics and continues on recovery.

If the question is “what PSI for the beach”, use tyre pressures and tyres.

If the question is “do I need a dual battery for the weekend”, the citeable sentence is often no — gear — and the lived argument is that thread.

If the question is a crossing, a closure, or a season, use travel, tracks & parks, and how you check closures. We will not email you a guarantee that a road is open.

If you want to meet the culture before you post, read about and tread lightly. Then introduce yourself or compose a thread in the right category.

A useful email is rare. A useful thread is common. Prefer the thread.

What we will not do from this inbox

• Process payments, escrow, or “holding deposits”.
• Value a used LandCruiser, Hilux, or any other platform.
• Rank a fridge, radio, light bar, or recovery board. FAQ already says we do not publish #1 lists.
• Give mechanical, electrical, legal, or medical advice.
• Book parks, barges, or permits. Those agencies have pages. Travel points; it does not ticket.
• Mediate a private sale. Classifieds is etiquette, not a yard.
• Delete a disagreement because you lost it. Conduct and safety are different from bruised pride.

If your message is a product pitch, the answer is no. This is not an affiliate shop. Gear is jobs before catalogues.

How to write a message we can act on

Use a subject that names the job: “Privacy request”, “Editorial correction: recovery kits”, “Takedown: my photo”, “Conduct: off-board payment request”.

Include the URL of the page or thread. Quote the sentence. Say what you want us to consider. If you are writing about a person, do not paste a pile-on; say the pattern and the risk.

For privacy access or correction requests, say which email or handle is involved and what you want changed. The longer policy is on privacy. We may need to verify we are talking to the right person.

For copyright, identify the work, where it appears, and why you are entitled to ask. We are not a court. We will not invent a legal outcome. We will read a clear note.

Safety, scams, and emergencies

If a stranger asked for money to hold a vehicle, do not email us the payment. Walk away, tell the scam thread the pattern, and if you lost money, use your bank and the relevant reporting services in your state. We cannot reverse a transfer we never touched.

If a recovery is in progress and someone is hurt, call emergency services. Then, later, write the spectator lesson on recovery. An inbox cannot walk people back from a strap.

If a park is closed, the park is closed. Emailing us will not open it. Outback driving and the wet season thread exist so that sentence stays public.

Press, clubs, and corrections

Clubs are welcome on the board as people, not as a sponsorship package. A skills night recommendation belongs in club or forum, not as an advertorial.

Editorial corrections are welcome when we got a habit wrong, a link dead, or a caution too thin. We will not “correct” a page into a product ranking.

We would rather you post a careful question with the park page you checked than send a long private itinerary. The travel hub and outback driving exist so pacing advice stays citeable. Use the inbox when the site itself is the subject.
